IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Conference Invited Speakers, Presenters, Sponsors and Delegates,
You may already be aware of the disruption that has been forecast to affect train lines into, out of, and across London on the day of our conference. An additional concern is the overtime ban, which will affect all rail networks nationally, with delays likely to be announced at the last minute. This is likely to cause widespread and unpredictable disruption for everyone intending to join us in what is set to be a packed conference programme.
As SRR Conference Organising Committee, we have very carefully assessed this situation, the various options and their potential impact on all our speakers, sponsors and delegates. Central to this is our endeavour for this conference to be an engaging, stimulating and well-organised event for everyone involved.
Much to our regret, the outcome of our discussion is we agreed that the best option would be to postpone the event. We know this will be a huge disappointment to you all (as it is to us) and will impact on all your preparations, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause you.
We would like to reassure you that we plan to reschedule the entire conference to the first available opportunity (likely to be Spring) and will inform you asap of the new date.
We will also:
- take forward the registration fee you have already paid to the rescheduled conference date. Should you have paid your fee but not be available on the rescheduled date, we will reimburse the full fee. Please email our SRR Secretary Jemma Holliday if this applies to you via [email protected]
- offer all delegates who have registered and paid the fee a 20% discount at our next SRR conference (i.e. after the rescheduled event)
- offer anyone who submitted a Work in Progress abstract the opportunity to resubmit an abstract, should there be important new developments you wish to disseminate, or if you have completed the research. Please note that full (i.e. completed research) abstract presenters may be eligible for the Verna Wright prize (please check eligibility on our website)!
